A delegation of International Students Visits the National Museum
A delegation of international students participating in the Arabic Language and Omani Culture Program (third edition) visited the National Museum, in cooperation with Sultan Qaboos University, represented by the University’s International Cooperation Office. The program includes (84) male and female students from (22) international universities around the world.
During the visit, the students explored the museum’s galleries and collections, which highlight key aspects of the history and civilization of the Sultanate of Oman and document its civilizational journey across the ages. The visit also included a guided tour of the historic Bayt al-Greiza, where students learned about the architectural and historical significance of the building and its role in the national cultural landscape.
As part of the visit, H.E. Jamal bin Hassan Al-Moosawi, Secretary-General of the National Museum, delivered a lecture titled “Oman: A Crossroads of Civilisations.” In his lecture, he reviewed Oman’s historical role as a hub of cultural exchange, from the era of the Magan civilisation and the Land of Frankincense, through its maritime and trade relations with Dilmun, Mesopotamia, China, India, and East Africa, to Oman’s approach of balanced diplomacy today—reflecting its active presence in contemporary international relations. The lecture witnessed notable engagement from the students through discussions and questions.
This visit comes as part of efforts to strengthen cultural and academic cooperation, providing international students with the opportunity to gain firsthand insight into Omani identity and the role of the National Museum in preserving and presenting Omani cultural heritage through scientific and interactive methods.
