A special corner for the Omani publications was inaugurated at the National Library of the Republic of Belarus
As part of the events of the initiative ‘The Day of Oman’ which was launched in 2018 to introduce the glorious cultural heritage of the Sultanate to the world, and organised by the National Museum this year in Minsk, the capital city of the Republic of Belarus, a special corner for the Omani publications was inaugurated at the National Library of the Republic of Belarus on Thursday, 19 September 2019. The publications were donated by Ministry of Heritage and Culture, the National Records and Archive Authority, Ministry of Information, Ministry of Tourism and the National Museum. The publications which were in Arabic, English and Russian included the genres of general information, literature, religious and philosophical sciences, Arabic Language, history, excavations and anthropology, children`s literature, museum studies, geography, and economics among others.
The inauguration was attended by His Excellency Dr. Viktor Josephevich Kurash, Director of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus, Professor Roman Motulsky, Director of the National Library of Belarus, the staff of the library and people interested in cultural events.
It is worth mentioning that the National Library of Belarus, one of the largest national libraries in the world was established in 1922, while the current building was constructed in 2006; an architectural masterpiece designed by Belarusian architectural designers; Mikhail Vinogradov and Viktor Kromanenko. The National Library hosts more than 10 million printed and electronic publications and receives more than 2200 persons on daily basis.
