Syrian Minister of Culture to meet The National Museum`s Secretary-General
Her Excellency Dr Lubanah Mushawah, Syrian Minister of Culture meets His Excellency Jamal bin Hassan al-Moosawi, Secretary- General of the National Museum of Oman and the accompanying delegation in Damascus.
The two parties discussed the preparations and the sideline events of the Day of Oman Exhibition that will be held in Damascus. In addition, they highlighted the practical steps taken to activate the Memorandum of Understanding in the cultural and museum field that was signed in Muscat in 2019 CE.
They also discussed the exchange of experiences and thoughts to promote cultural and museum work between the two brotherly countries, the prospects for specialised training, and the opportunity for Syrian specialists to benefit from the Omani experience in the museum field.
The two sides also reviewed the measures taken on the "Syrian Museum Collection Loan Annex", which will be signed on the sidelines of the exhibition for the second batch of Syrian artifacts that were damaged during the years of crisis. The objects will go under the conservation and restoration processes, and then will be exhibited in a temporary exhibition gallery at the National Museum of Oman.
The two sides also discussed the possibility of extending the loan of the manuscript of Ahmed bin Majid as-Saadi, which has been on display at the National Museum since March 2020, for another year, so that the largest number of citizens, residents and visitors can see this rare manuscript.
