The National Museum and Oman Thakira Centre Sign Cooperation Agreement
In a step aimed at highlighting the treasures of Omani cultural heritage, the National Museum and the Oman Thakira Centre signed a cooperation agreement on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, to exchange knowledge and expertise of mutual interest.
The agreement was signed by His Excellency Jamal bin Hassan al-Moosawi, Secretary-General of the National Museum, and Mahmoud bin Abdullah Al-Saqri, Head of the Oman Thakira Centre.
This agreement reflects both parties` belief in the importance of partnership between government institutions and civil society organisations dedicated to preserving national heritage, showcasing cultural treasures, protecting Oman`s intellectual achievements, and raising awareness of their significance while promoting a culture of appreciation for them.
The cooperation agreement includes the exchange of knowledge in areas of mutual interest, with the National Museum offering support and consultancy to the Oman Thakira Centre in museum management and collection display. In return, the Centre will contribute by providing scientific advice in the field of manuscripts and intellectual heritage. Both parties also agreed to collaborate on organising seminars, conferences, training workshops, and exhibitions related to Omani heritage, and the Centre will periodically present proposals to the National Museum for valuable heritage items held in private collections that the Museum may borrow according to established lending regulations.
This agreement marks an important step in enhancing efforts to preserve Omani cultural heritage and promote identity, reflecting the commitment of both parties and their efforts in serving the nation’s history and legacy.
