The National Museum represented by the learning Centre hosted on Sunday, June 9, 2024, the second student exhibition for the Design Department of Oman College of Management and Technology, under the patronage of H.H. Sayyida Meyyan bint Shihab al-Said, the Chairperson of Oman Design Association, and in the presence of His Excellency, Jamal bin Hassan al-Moosawi, Secretary-General of the National Museum, Dr. Hazem Migdady, Dean of Oman College of Management and Technology, and a group of academics and students. The exhibition continues for the public until June 13, 2024.
The exhibition aims to showcase student projects in the field of interior design developed by talented students that reflect the high level, qualifications, and capabilities acquired by the students during their studies at the college.
The exhibition includes 21 three-dimensional models of projects, consisting of houses and residential units with different styles where students used various natural materials such as stones, woods, and plants to add aesthetic and detailed design elements with precision. The exhibition also includes models of seats (chairs) made from wires and cardboard inspired by some designs of global designers in the field of design such as Michael Thonet, Mike Dunbar, and Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
Students also participated in the exhibition with canvas murals of Arabic calligraphy and Islamic geometric patterns with contrasting aesthetic balance and rhythm, and artistic drawings using skilled artistic media and shading techniques acquired to achieve visual balance for cohesive artistic compositions. The exhibition is interspersed with a series of accompanying seminars and workshops focusing on design, heritage, and Omani identity.
