The National Museum Signs Agreement to Lend Antiques to Oman Airports, Set Up Museum Corner

The National Museum today signed an agreement with Oman Airports company to lend antiques to the latter and set up a Museum Corner at Muscat International Airport.

The agreement aims to convert passenger corridors at Muscat International Airport into symbolic cultural spaces showcasing Oman’s sea, oases and desert landscapes.

The showpiece -- the National Museum`s Corner and a display of graphic arts -- will narrate tales of centuries-old communication among ancient Omani civilization and its contemporary counterparts in the global arena.

The agreement was signed by Jamal Hassan al-Moosawi, Secretary-General of the National Museum, and Sheikh Aiman Ahmed al-Hosni, CEO, Oman Airports.

In a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), Al-Moosawi said that the agreement aims to enhance joint cooperation in the field of culture in line with the National Museum’s goals, among them the consolidation of noble Omani values and citizenship. It will also help cement human ties between citizens, residents and visitors.   

On his turn, Al-Hosni said that the project seeks to enrich the knowledge of visitors and travelers about the Sultanate’s culture and heritage. It is part and parcel of efforts to promote tourism, knowledge and cultural awareness among visitors to the Sultanate, he observed.

He added that the agreement assumes significance as a step to optimize the role of Muscat International Airport in portraying Oman history and human reality.
