The National Museum Signs An agreement With Al Mouj Muscat to Raise Awareness About Oman`s Art and Culture
The National Museum, signed an agreement with Al Mouj Muscat, for a collaboration that will help raise awareness of Oman’s cultural heritage on Monday, 8th March 2021.
The National Museum will be lending a number of museum exhibits and pieces of art created by local artists for display at Al Mouj Muscat’s new Community Hub. The agreement also sets out that the Museum will manage a library of cultural resources, “The National Museum Corner”, located within the iconic Community Hub and as well, will have opportunities to host cultural events at its public spaces.
The culturally supportive agreement was signed at Al Mouj Muscat’s Community Hub jointly by His Excellency Jamal bin Hassan al-Moosawi, Secretary-General of the National Museum, and Mr. Nasser bin Masoud Al Sheibani, CEO of Al Mouj Muscat.
The National Museum is the Sultanate`s flagship cultural institution, showcasing the nation`s heritage from the earliest human settlement in the Oman Peninsula some two million years ago through to the present day. Situated in Muscat, it houses 5466 objects and offers 43 digital immersive experiences and is dedicated to ensuring Oman`s cultural heritage is understood, preserved and appreciated.
The Museum’s promise of providing exhibits, running a Knowledge Corner and organising events sits within its wider aims of providing opportunities for cultural expression, innovation and the transfer of traditional skills and knowledge from one generation to the next.
His Excellency Jamal bin Hassan al-Moosawi, Secretary-General of the National Museum, stated, “This cooperation agreement between the National Museum and Al Mouj Muscat stems on fostering the mutual collaboration in the cultural field according to the stated goals of the National Museum that aims at fulfilling the Omani culture and humanitarian mission, as well as maintaining a direct link between Omani’s and their heritage. Additionally, conveying the importance of Oman’s cultural heritage to domestic and international audiences, furthermore emphasising the cultural experience within the premises.”
Mr. Nasser bin Masoud al-Sheibani, CEO of Al Mouj Muscat commented: “As a diverse community, Al Mouj Muscat remains authentic to Oman’s cultural heritage and we are always on the lookout for ways to ensure it is communicated and appreciated within the society. As a national institution with global outreach, the National Museum is working at providing opportunities for cultural expression and celebrate Oman`s heritage in an innovative way, and this is an ethos echoed by Al Mouj Muscat.

Al Mouj Muscat’s new Community Hub is an architecturally impressive building situated along the main boulevard that houses a high-tech Sales and Experience Centre, a large Masjid with capacity for 500 worshippers, a nursery, a retail area, and public landscaped spaces. As a central focal point located adjacent to The Walk, it is the ideal place for art and cultural displays.
