The National Museum signs two agreements with the Palestinian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities
Based on the joint bilateral relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the State of Palestine, which extends across historical eras until present day, the National Museum signed on Tuesday May 2, 2023 CE, two agreements with the Palestinian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. The first agreement provides for organizing an exhibition and activities for “Oman Day” in the State of Palestine. The exhibition will be mobile and it will take place in accordance with schedules and venues to be agreed about later.
The second agreement provides for the establishment of a special corner for the State of Palestine in the National Museum. The venue will spotlight the history, civilization and Palestinian cause. It will also document bilateral relations between Oman and Palestine over various historical epochs and in the present time.
The two agreements were signed by His Excellency Jamal bin Hassan al-Moosawi, Secretary-General of the National Museum and Rula Maay’ah, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of the State of Palestine.
The National Museum also inaugurated (2) objects belonging to the late Palestinian President Yasser Arafat. The exhibits include a model of the Dome of the Rock, given as a present by the late Palestinian President Yasser Arafat to the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said in 1989 CE, as well as a round painting of the Dome of the Rock, given as a present by the Palestinian President to the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said in 2001CE.
